Support Cutting‑Edge Circuit Design Education & Research in Armenia
The ARPA Institute—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1992 in Los Angeles—has partnered with the National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) to create the Educational and Research Laboratory of Integrated Circuit Design and Modeling. This state-of-the-art lab, was led by expert Vatche Souvalian in collaboration with CISCO and Cadence Design Systems, aims to elevate graduate education and accelerate Armenia’s semiconductor ecosystem
What’s underway:
- Infrastructure & certification: ARPA has provided two high-performance servers and lab workstations/servers and the associated computer systems. Cadence-certified the facility, enabling international recognition and partnerships
- Software & curriculum: Graduate students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard Cadence tools—both for coursework and R&D.
- Expert instruction: CISCO specialist Vahe Yeghyazaryan, an NPUA alum, is leading the faculty training to ensure expert delivery of these programs.
- Modernizing Armenia’s STEM ecosystem: Currently supporting dozens of students, the lab is situated in NPUA’s Electrical Engineering building and is operational.
Why This Matters
- Empowers the next generation of circuit-design engineers in Armenia.
- Enhances global competitiveness by offering Cadence-certified training.
- Attracts international research partners and industry investment to Armenia.
