Biography

Hasmig Baran, Ed.D., is an accomplished educator and academic leader with a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from USC. She holds an MA in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from CSUN, and a BS from the American University of Beirut.

Dr. Baran has taught in both private and public schools and serves as professor in the Armenian Studies Program at CSUN. She is the Chair of the Haigazian University Board of Trustees, Secretary of ARPA, member of the Armenian Society of Fellows (ASOF), of Board of Regents of Prelacy Armenian Schools in Southern California, and of the Educational Committee of the Avedissian School in Armenia. She represents the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America in the United Armenian Council of Los Angeles.

An active scholar and speaker, Dr. Baran has published articles in academic journals and has been a panelist and moderator at conferences. Her public talks address topics such as women’s leadership, work-family balance, Armenian American woman between traditions and contemporary challenges, Armenian identity in the diaspora, and content and pedagogy of genocide education in the 21 st century.
